Cookie Notice

Version dated August 7, 2026. Effective August 26, 2026. This notice lists every cookie and browser-storage item Ask Bobby J sets, plus the third-party services that may set their own.

The short version

Ask Bobby J does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, or any active analytics product. We set a session cookie so you stay signed in and a few preference settings so the app remembers how you like it. That is the whole list.

First-party cookies and storage

  • Authentication session cookie (essential): set by our authentication framework (Better Auth) to keep you signed in and to maintain guest sessions. Cleared or expired per session settings.
  • sidebar_state (preference): remembers whether the Deal Room sidebar is open. Expires after one week.
  • chat-model (preference): stores your allowed model-selection preference for server-side routing.
  • ask-bobby-theme (preference): browser local storage , not a cookie, that remembers your light/dark theme choice. It never leaves your browser.

Third-party cookies (contextual)

  • Stripe (essential during checkout): sets its own cookies for payment processing and fraud prevention when you use checkout.
  • Google (essential during sign-in): may set or read its own storage if you choose Google sign-in.
  • Bot and abuse prevention (essential/security): human-verification and bot-detection services may process browser and device signals to distinguish people from bots on forms and sensitive routes.

Analytics and advertising

No analytics product is active. An analytics library exists as an inactive dependency in our codebase but is deliberately not mounted, and our release checks enforce that it stays off until its privacy review is approved. We set no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies of any kind.

There is currently no cookie consent banner, because only essential and preference storage is in use.

Your choices

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the essential authentication cookie will sign you out and may prevent the service from working. Preference storage can be cleared at any time without losing access to the service. If we later add optional technologies, they will be off by default until any applicable consent or opt-out requirement, including Global Privacy Control, is satisfied, and this notice will be updated first.
